Hello! This is garrick.
Across the Night to You is my project for NaNoRenO 2011. It was an idea I’d had on my mind for a long time, but never really gotten up the motivation to write…
This game could not possibly exist without the efforts of many people. The music, SFX, backgrounds, and engine were all made by others, and even though I am the writer of the story, it is based on folktales that have been passed around for generations. In fact, I’m sorry it took so long, and so much, to make me take action.
This world is filled with so many interesting things. And yet despite so many things I could be writing about, the actual impact I’ve had is so small. This is all I have accomplished so far. I’m sorry.
I’m a Christian of miscellaneous denomination, and to me, my work is a way of serving God.
(If you dislike that word, we can just think of him as)Love…
I think that God reaches people in more ways than we realise…and I believe that the most important rule, or perhaps the only one, is to love and take care of each other.
Even my ability to write, I think, comes from God. And that probably I should try to do good things with it instead of only benefitting myself.
It is for this reason that I release this game under a free license.
Having built upon the works of others and received their help. Wanting to let others build upon mine, in turn, and to help others, in turn.
That’s the kind of life I want to live.
This is the product of many peoples’ heartfelt work.
So, hello!
This is my love.
Please accept it, and if it makes you happy, I hope you can share it with others.

March 2011
I do not, at present, accept donations.
I’m not intending to fault the ones who do, but on a personal level, I don’t feel right accepting money for doing something I like. While I do put money, time, and effort into my work, I consider it to be my method of serving God, and don’t expect financial recompense for it. This is one of the reasons I make my work available at no charge to begin with.
If you enjoy my work and still want to support it by some means, I would be much happier if you would donate that amount to charity. Not only will that make the world a quantifiably better place, but the benefit will be proportionally larger than if you paid me.
Here are some causes worthy of your consideration*:
You may also note that the license I have released most of my work under permits you to sell such for profit. Again, you don’t need to front me any of the proceeds, but by all means feel free to give to the musicians, photographers, and programmers upon whose work I have built, or to any of the groups listed above.
The best payment you can present to me is a world improved, however slightly.
