Thank you for downloading Tying Threads.
Tying Threads is a Visual Novel- Play consists of reading through the storyline, making decisions for the protagonist at key points in the story. Your decisions will affect your path through the story, and ultimately how the story ends.
Story Synopsis
After leaving behind everyone he had ever known to attend a new middleschool, Allen learns the harsh reality that he can never regain what he has lost. The rift between himself and others has become too large to overcome. And the expanse only widens, day by day. As the years pass by, Allen falls deeper and deeper into isolation. Until one day, a single smile in a sea of faces calls out to him...
Running The Game
Tying Threads uses Ren'Py as it's game engine, and has a different distribution for Windows, Mac, and Linux. If you need to download a different distribution for your operating system, please visit the Ren'Ai Archives.
Playing The Game
MAIN MENU
After launching the program, you will be brought to the main menu. The main menu should be fairly self-explanatory, giving you the ability to:
- Start Game - Start a new game.
- Continue Game - Load a saved game.
- Preferences - Configure game preferences.
- Quit - Quit entirely.
IN-GAME.
After loading a game, the following controls become active:
- Left Click, Space, Enter - Advance to the next screen of dialogue.
- Left Click, Enter - Activate a menu choice or button.
- Right Click, Escape - Brings you to the game menu.
- Center Click, H key - Hides transient windows, allowing one to see the pictures unobstructed.
- Mouse Wheel Up, Page Up - Rolls back to a prior point in the game. This allows you to review previously-read text, and even change mistaken choices.
- Mouse Wheel Down, Page Down - Rolls forward when viewing text that was shown using rollback.
- Ctrl - Skips for as long as the Ctrl key is held down.
- Tab - Toggles skipping until tab is pressed again.
- F key - Toggles fullscreen mode.
GAME MENU.
The game menu gives the following options:
- Return - Returns to the game in progress.
- Begin Skipping - Returns to the game, skipping.
- Preferences - Allows one to adjust preferences.
- Save Game - Save your current position
- Load Game - Load a saved position
- Main Menu - Brings you back to the main menu
- Quit - Exit game
